Pixar's sweet and surprise-filled computer-animated comic drama follows Carl Fredricksen, a curmudgeonly 78-year-old balloon salesman, as he is about to fulfill a promise to his late wife. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, the widower flies away to the South American wilderness—but is aghast when he discovers that a little boy named Russell is an accidental stowaway aboard the balloon-powered house. Reaching Paradise Falls, the pair befriend a Golden Retriever named Dug, whose collar has a device that translates his thoughts into human speech, as well as a giant bird who is being hunted by the explorer Charles Muntz (voiced by Christopher Plummer).
