A Touch of Sin
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Jia Zhangke
2013 / 130min / DCP
Jia’s jarringly to-the-moment film, based on scandalous stories from around Mainland China circulated via Weibo posts, focuses on four individuals in four provinces pushed towards violence by rampant injustice, and features a small but piquant role for Wang in the film’s third segment as a particularly boorish and arrogant customer at the Nightcomer Sauna, seen pummeling fellow Jia regular Zhao Tao, playing an employee, with a stack of cash after being told that her services aren’t for sale. A howl of outrage against the injustices run rampant in money-mad China—and a system that denies their existence.
