Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: George Miller, George Ogilivie
1985 / 109min / 4K DCP

Turner, in the middle of an ’80s career renaissance following the release of her album Private Dancer and its Grammy Record of the Year–winning single “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” took a trip to the Antipodes to play Aunty Entity, the imperious leader of the rough-and-tumble trading post in the desert wastes of post-apocalyptic Australia, in the third installment of Miller’s relentlessly kinetic Mad Max series. Autocratic Aunty Entity, dressed to oppress in a shoulder-padded chain-mail dress, makes for the most complex and charismatic of the franchise’s various antagonists, as well as the only one to contribute opening and closing credit tracks to a Max movie: “One of the Living” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero,” the latter of which gave The Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll another monster hit.
