Director: Micaela Durand, Daniel Chew
2019 / 63min / DCP

A program bringing together three thematically linked shorts that inquire into lust, love, and envy in the hybridized half-logged-in, half-IRL world of contemporary existence. In First, a New York City teenager documents her everyday perambulations around the city, buffeted with comments (and threats) on social media that appear as onscreen presences. In Negative Two, a twentysomething architect develops an increasingly intimate relationship with a strange man he meets online, managing this unconsummated flirtation while monitoring others’ representations of their lives online. In 38, Chew and Durand enter the troubled psyche of a 38-year-old woman who’s become pathologically fixated on the internet presence of the younger woman who made off with her ex.
