Director: Katt Shea
1992 / 93min / 35mm
Like an insidious invasive species, sultry, street-smart psycho Drew Barrymore slowly occupies the swank suburban home of shy teenager Sara Gilbert, winning the confidences of near-invalid mother Cheryl Ladd and lusty looks from father Tom Skerritt. The studio asked Shea, an actress-turned-director from the Roger Corman stable, to deliver “a teenage Fatal Attraction,” but what they got was something entirely original, a particularly psychologically acute—and down and dirty—entry in the erotic thriller canon that gave Barrymore a bravura bad-girl role, and picked up an ardent following on home video and late-night cable.
