All the Long Nights

Director: Sho Miyake

2024 / 119min / DCP

Based on the novel of the same name by Maiko Seo, Miyake’s tender, understated drama stars Hokuto Matsumura and Mone Kamishiraishi as two co-workers who, after discovering they both suffer from invisibly debilitating conditions little understood by the wider world—he from blindsiding panic attacks, she from wild PMS-related mood swings—form a tentative bond based on mutual respect and care. Often affecting but never given to unearned sentiment, abhorrent of cliché, caricature, and easy scapegoating, All The Long Nights is a deeply humane film about the everyday hurdles faced in muddling through life, buoyed by the considerable chemistry of its irresistible leads.
