“They got snakes out here this big?” shouts a baffled Ice Cube, part of a documentary crew travelling along the Amazon River, after encountering evidence of a supersized serpent early in Anaconda—and very soon after, he gets his answer in the form of a highly aggressive green anaconda that makes big trouble for Cube and colleagues including Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. Amidst spectacular asphyxiations and other thrills, there’s also Jon Voight camping it up as a Paraguayan snake hunter, his final scene among the most stunning in ’90s American cinema.
