With this intimate, interrogatory, and very personal triptych film Uman provides a lucid, collaborative portrait of day-to-day life in the Albanian mountaintop village of Rabdsiht alongside her own first-person observations on living as a foreigner and female in a rigidly patriarchal society and endeavoring to build bonds with the local women and girls. A poignant and potent piece of handmade cinema which addresses, among other things, the fluidity of gender, the tangled web of tradition, and the necessary difficulty of solidarity.
