Director: Jim Jarmusch
2019 / 116min / 35mm

Isaach De Bankolé is a mysterious operative in Spain on an equally obscure mission, making his way through a string of cryptic meetings en route to an appointment at a fortress-like compound overseen by a sinister Bill Murray in Jarmusch’s espionage thriller, inspired by both Spaghetti Westerns and the skeletal prose of Donald Westlake’s Parker novels, written under the pseudonym Richard Stark. Of his collaboration with improviser par excellence Doyle, Jarmusch reported: “Chris is, for me, like a river full of fish—ideas swimming past continually. And you can fish out however many or however few you want, and Chris is there to realize them… He’s also wild… Somebody said that Keith Richards met Chris and said, ‘Well, Chris Doyle is the Keith Richards of cinematographers.’”
