Fever Pitch
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: David Evans
1997 / 102min / 35mm
Reworked freely for the screen by Nick Hornby, adapting his 1992 memoir of lifelong football fandom, Fever Pitch: A Fan’s Life, Evans’s charming romantic comedy stars Colin Firth as a South Hertfordshire schoolteacher whose courtship of new colleague Ruth Gemmell encounters unforeseen complications when his beloved Arsenal begin a thrilling run for the First Division championship. Based around Arsenal’s 1988-89 season, and featuring scenes shot at the team’s Highbury stadium, it’s one of the great films about the pleasures and perils of sports mania.
