In what he cheekily dubbed his “Heterosexual Movie,” the centerpiece of his Teenage Apocalypse trilogy, Araki follows a trio of gorgeous, disaffected youths with color-coded surnames (James Duval as Jordan White, Rose McGowan as Amy Blue, Johnathon Schaech as Xavier Red) across an all-American hellscape rendered in assaultive artificial colors, their flight a channel-surf through bizarre celebrity cameos, preceded by a run-in with a pack of homophobes portrayed by band Skinny Puppy. An overdose shot of jittery post-MTV maximalism that almost makes Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers look timid by comparison.
