The Great Muppet Caper
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Jim Henson
1981 / 97min / 35mm
Muppet maven Henson’s only outing in the director’s chair for a Muppet feature is an absolute howl. Fozzie Bear and Kermit the Frog, here newspaper reporters, travel to London to investigate a heist that’s relieved Dame Diana Rigg of her jewels, and when Miss Piggy is framed in a follow-up, it’s up to one intrepid amphibian to clear her good name. Pure fun with a passel of toe-tapping original songs, several of Waldorf and Statler’s most brutal put-downs, and hysterical supporting work by the always incomparable Charles Grodin, pitching woo to the most famous porker in film history, here at her diva-ish best. Don’t get caught missing it—red-handed or otherwise.
