Slither
Director: Howard Zieff
1973 / 96min / VHS
No sooner has car thief Dick Kanipsia (James Caan) been sprung from the pen than he finds himself in hot water all over again, set out on the trail of a cache of stolen loot, tangled up with a freewheeling chick with a penchant for armed robbery (Sally Kellerman) and a bush-league bandleader (Peter Boyle), and trying to keep ahead of a an Airstream trailer full of bad news…
“The first time I saw Slither was on VHS on a small television, in a friend’s East Village apartment, probably in 2005. It was raining outside and we got takeout from B&H Dairy, a perfect way to see this weird and funny movie. I’ve not found out much about it since, partly because there doesn’t seem to be that much to dig up, but also because I’ve never wanted to disrupt its strange magic.” —Nathan GelgudDistributor: Hollywood Film Company
