For one night only, on Sunday March 8th, Claire Simon, doyenne of her country’s documentary scene, joins Metrograph to present two of her finest works—The Competition and I Want to Talk About Duras—as well as Frederick Wiseman’s Public Housing, essential viewing for anyone with an interest in anti-didactic but socially engaged documentary, and a formative influence on Simon’s own work, including her forthcoming feature, Writing Life: Annie Ernaux Through the Eyes of High School Students, which screens at Rendez-Vous with French Cinema 2026.
