Lady and the Tramp

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske, Wilfred Jackson
1955 / 76min / 35mm

Based on a 1945 short story by Ward Greene, Disney’s musical odd-couple romance tracks the courtship of Lady (voiced by Barbara Luddy), a primped-and-pampered cocker spaniel, by Tramp (Larry Roberts), a mangy mutt with a heart o’ gold and a knack for evading dogcatchers. The first full-length animated feature in CinemaScope, with songs by Sonny Burke and Peggy Lee—who also voices Lady’s owner, a Brooklyn-accented Pekingese, and the mischievous twin Siamese cats Si and Am—and the most famous dinner table scene in all the Disney canon. “Plays more like a warm 1930s romantic comedy than a typical children`s film… There are moments in this movie… that recapture the spirit of Jean Arthur and Charles Boyer in Frank Borzage’s History Is Made at Night, or of Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in George Cukor’s Holiday.” —Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader
