A radically against-type Robin Williams stars in acclaimed music video director Romanekâs feature debut as Sy Parrish, punctilious and polite photo technician at a lab attached to a SavMart big-box store who, obsessed with his work to the point of abjuring all human contact, lives vicariously through the lives of regular customers as observed in the snapshots he develops for them. His discovery that the head of his favorite household, the Yorkins, appears to be having an affair, which coincides with the threat of his nine-year employment by SavMart coming to an end, gives the obsessive Parrish new outlets for his manias, as heâand the unnervingly absorbing One Hour Photoârush towards a psychopathic break, a clammily chilly journey thanks to the cinematography of regular David Fincher collaborator Jeff Cronenweth.
