Air Force One
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Wolfgang Petersen
1997 / 124min / 35mm
A summer blockbuster featuring a level of craftsmanship and a roster of above the line talent—cinematography by Michael Ballhaus! Score by Jerry Goldsmith!—that one rarely if ever sees these days, Petersen’s white-knuckler stars Harrison Ford as a Medal of Honor-recipient vet and American President who, once Air Force One is hijacked by a crew of Gary Oldman-led terrorists representing a rogue neo-Soviet holdover state, will have to rediscover his old ass-kicking form in order to save his family and keep his nation unbowed. An absurd premise more than redeemed by tight-as-a-drum filmmaking, with Ford’s “Get off my plane!” one of those bits of blissful crowd-pleasing hooey that Hollywood was put on earth to produce.
