To mark the 10th anniversary of Krisha, Trey Edward Shults’s knockout feature-length directorial debut, a special screening co-presented by Manic Phase and A24 will be followed afterwards by an appearance by Shults, joined in conversation with actor/musician Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) to discuss the film as their upcoming collaboration on Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025). Krisha Fairchild, the director’s aunt, stars opposite Shults and other family members in this caustic, often witheringly funny holiday psychodrama, in which recovered addict Krisha’s offer to cook Thanksgiving dinner for her estranged relations turns her sister’s Texas McMansion into a seething cauldron of repressed resentment and mounting unease, relentlessly, cacophonously hurtling towards a denouement that is nothing short of devastating.
