Weekend at Bernie's

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Ted Kotcheff
1989 / 89min / 35mm

Two low-level strivers working at a New York City insurance company, Larry and Richard (Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman), are certain they’re in for promotion when they reveal a case of fraud to their CEO, Bernie Lomax (Terry Kiser), and are invited to a decadent party-hearty getaway at the boss’s Hamptons home. Arriving to find Bernie dead as a doornail, the boys decide to maintain the illusion he’s still kicking with a little corpse ventriloquy, thinking they can still spend the weekend playing high-rollers, but instead putting themselves in the crosshairs of Bernie’s mob associates, who thought they’d rubbed Lomax out. High-concept lowbrow comedy handled with panache by Canadian utility director Kotcheff, with Kiser’s ragdoll pantomime consistently knee-slapping.
