Hollywood 90028

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Christina Hornisher
1974 / 90min / 4K DCP

“Hollywood 90028 is the best movie you haven’t seen. On the surface, it’s a grindhouse flick about a homicidal man who kills women during sex. But in its making, writer/director Christina Hornisher has made an arthouse film that experiments in expressing the insecurities and untrust of its time period; not coincidentally, the same year as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This is the only feature film directed by Hornisher, in which she also writes under a male pseudonym, after making a series of successful short films at UCLA Film School. The process of getting Hollywood 90028 released was a long ordeal and included multiple different titles causing it to linger in obscurity for decades. Frustrated, Hornisher did not make another film and passed away in 2003. Fortunately, we now have the 4K restoration to rightfully place the film into the canon of 1970s cinema.” —Caryn Coleman
