Corpse Bride

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Tim Burton
2005 / 77min / 35mm

Fretting over his upcoming wedding, pallid groom-to-be Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp) escapes to the woods to go over his vows and, unknowingly rehearsing them over the shallow grave of a dead woman, finds himself lawfully wed to a reanimated blue corpse, voiced by Helena Bonham Carter, who proceeds to drag him off on a honeymoon in an underworld that’s a riot of every shade of rot. A freaky stop-motion folktale pastiche from Burton, who originated the character designs, stocked with original operetta-style tunes by Danny Elfman. “The retro auteur’s sublimest elegy for lost time next to Ed Wood. A black-velvet comedy… The variety of its cadaverous style is never less than inspired.” —The Village Voice
