No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Richard Linklater
2003 / 109min / DCP
Replaced by his bar bandmates with a lantern-jawed new guitarist named “Spider” and strapped for cash, disgraced Dewey Finn (Jack Black) bluffs his way into a gig as a substitute music teacher at the Horace Green prep school, where he proceeds to tutor his 4th grader pupils in the pleasures of The Doors, AC/DC, and Led Zep, all while priming them to perform at his side in an upcoming Battle of the Bands—of course, all behind the back of the school’s seemingly uptight principal, played by Joan Cusack. A raucous yet sweet-spirited Bad News Bears for the hard rock crowd, with Black in a part custom-made to showcase him at his exuberant, acrobatic, bombastic best.
David Ehrlich, Reviews Editor and Head Film Critic at IndieWire, in person Sunday, September 22nd for an introduction and post-screening discussion inspired by his contribution to A24's new book, Hey Kids, Watch This!
