Common Carrier
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: James N. Kienitz Wilkins
2017 / 78min / DCP
A collection of vignettes and conversations with various full-time and part-time artists, several featuring Wilkins himself, the kaleidoscopic Common Carrier’s images are almost entirely “overlapped,” as are its dialogues, which among other things address schizophrenia, mystical “aura,” division of labor, and constitutional law, these varied discussions sharing the soundtrack with disparate radio feeds from WNYC and Hot 97 that are united by the recurrence of the word “work.” A rich and ruminative film about making do in the 21st century, eking out a creative existence in the scant free time that’s left over after the other obligations have been met.
Post-screening Q&A with James N. Kienitz Wilkins & Robin Schavoir, moderated by Sierra Pettengill, on Sunday, August 4th
