Kinshasa Makambo
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Dieudo Hamadi
2018 / 74min / DCP
Hamadi’s utterly compelling, fervid film focuses on three young activists—Jean-Marie, Christian, and Ben—who’ve dedicated themselves completely to freeing the Democratic Republic of Congo from the junta of strongman President Joseph Kabila, demonstrating in favor of free elections in the streets of Kinshasa and debating tactics in often raucous strategy meetings. A film rich with ideas about organized resistance, lent a singular immediacy by Hamadi’s nimble, entirely in-the-moment camerawork.
