In 1982, at the Cannes Film Festival, Wim Wenders invited various luminaries to come to a room in the Hotel Martinez and, in front of a static camera, answer the question: “Is cinema a language about to get lost, an art about to die?” Some 40 years after the release of the resulting film, Wenders’s Room 666, Playoust returned to the scene to again pose questions about the uncertain future of cinema to some of the artform’s foremost practitioners, her subjects including David Cronenberg, Lynne Ramsey, Arnaud Desplechin, Davy Chou, James Gray, Claire Denis, and Wenders himself, now in the hot seat. Part celebration, part autopsy, and never less than scintillating viewing for avid cinephiles.

Introduction and Q&A with director Lubna Playoust, moderated by filmmaker Kent Jones on Friday, June 14th
