I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Park Chan-wook
2006 / 107min / DCP

Coming off the international success of his bloody, hard-bitten Vengeance Trilogy, Park took a hard swerve from action with this charming, idiosyncratic, and utterly inspired romantic comedy. Set primarily inside a psychiatric hospital, I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK focuses on the unfolding romance between Il-soon (singer/songwriter Rain), a surly young man institutionalized for kleptomania, and Young-goon (Im Soo-jung), a young woman convinced she’s half automaton, locked up after having attempted to plug a power cord into her slashed wrist. A true one-off from Park, criminally underseen in the US.
