The final student (Chiang Sheng) of the scattered Poison Clan embarks on an epic journey to find the clan’s most deadly disciples—the Centipede, the Scorpion, the Lizard, the Toad and, of course, the Snake—in order to enlist their aid in foiling a dangerous conspiracy. Chang, one of Hong Kong’s most venerated directors of wuxia and martial arts action, delivered a massive hit for Shaw Brothers studios with this breezily paced, brutal kung-fu classic, which would make his masked stars (and choreographers, and stuntmen) famous to local filmgoers as the “Venom Mob.”
