Sean Connery’s fourth outing as James Bond cost more than the first three combined, with a significant portion of it going to the film’s impressive underwater set pieces, handsomely lensed in widescreen Panavision, and the elaborate production design of the legendary Ken Adam. The sinister SPECTRE organization are once again trying to extract ransom from the Western powers, this time with two stolen NATO A-bombs, and 007 has to head to the balmy Bahamas to foil the scheme’s eyepatch-clad architect, Adolfo Celi’s Emilio Largo.
