Santa Claus Has Blue Eyes

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Jean Eustache, Jean Eustache
1967 / 50min / DCP

Made with film stock left over from Godard’s Masculin Fémimin shoot, Santa Claus Has Blue Eyes is a vivid evocation of provincial stagnation and the pains of being young and penniless. A squirrelly Léaud stars as an habitually unemployed and painfully horny twentysomething stuck in small-town southern France (specifically, Eustache’s own hometown of Narbonne), trying to woo women and keep himself warm as winter approaches, ultimately finding work as a street-corner St. Nick in hopes of scraping together sufficient francs to purchase a longed-for duffle coat.
