Benny's Video
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Michael Haneke
1992 / 110min / 35mm
The eponymous Benny—played by Arno Frisch, later star of Haneke’s Funny Games—is the teenaged scion of a wealthy family who, left to his own devices by neglectful parents, passes his days and nights watching rented videotapes. Cut off from his peers, terminally shy Benny appears to have a shot at forming something approaching a normal relationship when he strikes up a tentative romance with a girl his own age—that is, until he brings her home to watch one of his favorite tapes, and all hell breaks loose. A chilling study in disaffection, isolation, and the hazards of media overdose.
