The Truman Show

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Peter Weir
1998 / 103min / DCP

In the 30th year of his perfectly unremarkable life in the perfectly unremarkable community of Seahaven Island, Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) begins to notice some small tears in the fabric of his everyday reality—a reality that is in fact an elaborate soundstage construction, because Truman has unknowingly spent his entire life as the star of a 24/7 reality television show orchestrated by producer Ed Harris, who’ll have to think fast once Truman discovers the truth and goes M.I.A. Andrew Niccol’s high-concept script achieves genuine pathos in the hands of masterful melodramatist Weir, who helped Carrey make a compelling case for himself as something more than a slapstick comic.
