Opening and closing rituals, performed by Vicuña herself, will bookend this unique program that also includes a brief artist’s talk and the screening of three of Vicuña’s moving-image works: Cecilia Vicuña: Extermination Living Quipu, documenting a site-specific installation from the artist’s 2022 Guggenheim show; Beach Ritual, a record of Vicuña’s seaside sacrifice performance at documenta 14 in Athens in 2017; and 2015’s Seed Song, which offers insight into how the artist’s gallery practice is vitally informed by her relationship with the natural world.
