Moses and Aaron
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Jean-Marie Straub, Danièle Huillet
1974 / 107min / DCP
Among Straub and Huillet’s supreme achievements, Moses and Aaron, the end result of a 15-year struggle to secure financing, is an awesomely austere adaptation of innovative Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg’s unfinished opera of the same title, a revisionist retelling of the Biblical story of enslavement and Exodus from a monotheism-skeptical perspective, shot in large part in the ruins of the Roman amphitheater at Alba Fucens.
