Immortality for All

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Anton Vidokle
2014 / 96min / DCP

In three films, artist Vidokle explores the strange legacy of “Russian Cosmism”—the near-forgotten theory, first posited by radical Moscow librarian Nikolai Federov (1829-1903), that the ultimate goal of technology was to achieve immortality and even, perhaps, resurrect the dead. Traveling to Kazakhstan, Siberia, and other far-flung points in the former USSR to find the ghosts of Cosmism haunting Soviet-era architecture and art, Vidokle produces moving images of utopian yearning deferred, these lent a further plangency by a soundtrack including music by John Cale and Éliane Radigue. This final installment of the trilogy debuted in 2017.

With Anton Vidokle in-person for a Q&A following the 7:45 screening on 11/19
