A program of Potter’s run of innovative early shorts, which began with 1969’s minimalist miniature, Jerk, made at the London Film-Makers’ Co-op. Thriller, Potter’s lauded deconstruction of Puccini’s La bohème, in which the opera’s doomed heroine, Mimi, embarks on an investigation into the dramatic necessity of her tragic death; London Story, a highly choreographed spy spoof involving an investigation into government foreign policy malfeasance which Potter stages in front of London’s most recognizable landmarks; the double-screen street kids of Play; and Combines, one of the earliest events to combine dance on film projected in juxtaposition with live performances by the same dancers.
