Having fled the authorities out west following the events of 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, disgraced ex-LAPD officer Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) moves to Miami to set up shop street racing, only to be recruited by the FBI to go after an Argentine drug lord with Customs agent Eva Mendes, a mission for which he recruits a couple of old friends (Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges). The cars are souped up, the scenery is sunny, and director Singleton keeps the pedal to the metal in this first of many sequels, setting the pace with a tour-de-force opening race through the Miami streets.
