Homebodies

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Larry Yust
1974 / 96min / DCP

Perhaps the only “Oldsploitation” film ever made, Yust’s morbid, gentrification-inspired comedy begins as a group of elderly pensioners in Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood find themselves on the verge of being forced out of the apartment building that’s been their home for decades—until one of them, Paula Trueman’s wily Mattie, decides to fight back. Construction site sabotage turns to murder, murder leads to dissent in the geriatric ranks, and before Homebodies is over you’ll be treated to swinging wrecking balls, some particularly gruesome scenes of corpse disposal, and the most hysterically pokey climactic chase in cinema history.
