Hide and Seek + Blue Diary + Testament

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Su Friedrich
1996 / 89min / DCP

“A rich and provocative tapestry that assaults complacent assumptions about lesbian identity”—Yvonne Rainer. Friedrich, in Hide and Seek, revisits the lost 1960s world of her adolescence, integrating staged scenes from the life of teen tomboy Lou (Chels Holland) with documentary interviews of diverse lesbians and archival footage from the sex education films that the filmmaker remembers from her youth. Screening with Olson’s elegiac, essayistic Blue Diary, in which an anonymous diarist recounts her unrequited attraction to a heterosexual woman following a fluke one-night stand; and the self-portrait Testament, a gentle, humanist fever dream film from poet and filmmaker Broughton.

Presented with a Q+A with Su Friedrich Sunday, July 3, moderated and introduced by Sandra Schulberg from Indie Collect
