Director: Stephen Dwoskin, Stephen Dwoskin, Stephen Dwoskin
1970 / 80min / 16mm

Set to a droning found-sound tape-loop score by avant-garde composer Gavin Bryars, Dwoskin’s debut feature is an otherworldly, utterly immersive, often intense, and sometimes surreal sensual odyssey, a drama of sexual abandon and emotional isolation conveyed without dialogue, told in tight shots of faces and isolated body parts recorded on handheld 16mm and transformed into alien landscapes with an orgiastic panoply of visual effects. A key work in Dwoskin’s filmography, poised between his experimental shorts of the 1960s and his more documentary-minded works of the ’70s, and a landmark of erotic psychodrama.

Presented with an introduction from Rachel Garfield and Henry Miller, editors Dwoskino: The Gaze of Stephen Dwoskin.
