The Muppets Take Manhattan
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Frank Oz
1984 / 94min / DCP
After scoring a smash hit with their college revue “Manhattan Melodies,” the matriculating Muppets decide there’s only one logical next stop: the Great White Way, and Broadway stardom! As it happens, it isn’t all that easy to find a producer willing to back a show featuring a diva pig and a wisecracking bear at center stage, and the big, dirty city chews the kids up and spits them out to go their separate ways—before a twist of fate that leads to a race against time to make the curtain. With the requisite parade of cameos, including Mayor Koch (!) and James Coco as snooty businessman Mr. Skeffington, and the fantasy interlude that first introduced the Muppet Babies.
