Permanent Vacation

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Jim Jarmusch
1980 / 75min / 35mm

In his senior year at NYU film school, Jarmusch made his feature debut: a portrait of footloose youth killing time in a depopulated downtown New York, which lone wolf Aloysius Parker, a self-styled Alphabet City Rimbaud, cruises through aimlessly. Half send-up of its preening punk protagonist, half open celebration of Romantic role-playing and the pleasures of being young, unattached, and hopelessly hip, and a tattered valentine to a disappeared, dingy NYC, offering time and space in which to dream.
