We Won't Grow Old Together
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Maurice Pialat
1972 / 110min / 35mm
The distilled quintessence of every impossible relationship that you’ve ever been in, Pialat’s exorcism of a film follows the noisy break-ups and make-ups of couple Marlène Jobert and her bearish, boorish married lover Jean Yanne, in an incredibly unflattering film à clef self-portrait. Pialat’s magnificent deployment of car interiors conveys the claustrophobia of a failing relationship, but his genius lies in generating a sense of tragedy around the inevitable.
Introduction from Azazel Jacobs on Friday, October 25th
