ACE Presents: Salesman
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Albert Maysles, David Maysles, Charlotte Zwerin
1969 / 91min / DCP
Following traveling salesmen for the Mid-American Bible Company from their Boston headquarters to a Chicago convention and on their door-to-door rounds in lower middle-class Opa-Locka, Florida, Charlotte Zwerin and the Maysles brothers not only produced one of the foundational films of the “Direct Cinema” documentary movement, but a compassionate, cutting depiction of an American scene largely untouched by the ongoing counterculture explosion.
Panel discussion in collaboration with ACE, with editor/directors Mirra Bank, Deborah Dickson, Susan Froemke, and Muffie Meyer, moderated by Michael Schulman of The New Yorker following Salesman on Saturday, May 31st
