Director: Robin Campillo
2017 / 140min / DCP

Campillo’s rousing, vital period piece takes the viewer to France in the early 1990s, re-enacting the front line clash between ACT UP activists—largely gay and HIV-positive—and pharmaceutical companies indifferent to the ravages of the AIDS crisis. A moving depiction of bonds forged in shared agony, and men and women showing incredible persistence facing down the overwhelming indifference of government and corporate entities alike, with an impressive cast—most of them previously unknown—who summon up all the fear, anger and, yes, passion of the era.

Q&A with director Robin Campillo, moderated by film critic Eric Kohn, on Friday, March 8th
