Pauline at the Beach
No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Éric Rohmer
1983 / 95min / 35mm
Two cousins, virginal teenaged Pauline (Amanda Langlet) and older, experienced Marion (Arielle Dombasle), are barely settled in at the family beach house for vacation when they begin attracting the attention of menfolk, including Marion’s ex Pierre (Pascal Greggory) and a lothario ethnographer (Féodor Atkine). A major minor film, with the great Néstor Almendros (like Savides, here at his most sublime) giving this heartbreaker something like a watercolorist’s delicacy of tone.
