Rumble in the Bronx

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Stanley Tong
1995 / 87min / 35mm

The movie that finally broke Jackie Chan in America, Rumble in the Bronx is something like a live-action Saturday morning cartoon, packing in goofball gags and innovative violence, with Anita Mui to boot. The second time Chan teamed up with director/stunt coordinator Tong (after Police Story III: Supercop), Rumble has Hong Kong cop Jackie touching down in the Bronx, to swiftly run afoul of bikers, racketeers, and other hazards of our lawless city. (The film was in fact shot in Vancouver, allowing nice views of NYC’s famous snow-capped mountain peaks.) Jackie’s just turned 40 here, but he hasn’t lost a step; the fights are frenetic, the stunts pure lunacy, among these a leap onto a hovercraft that busted his ankle.
