Wallace & Gromit: The Classic Shorts
Director: Nick Park
1995 / 85min / DCP
Along with the Academy Award–winning success of Aardman Animations’ 1990 Creature Comforts, it was this trio of inspired shorts featuring cheese-loving, jug-eared, Wigan-based crackpot inventor Wallace and his erudite pet dog/straight man/frequent savior Gromit that established the company as a stop-motion dynasty to delight all ages. Featuring A Grand Day Out, in which Wallace whips up a homemade spaceship in order to sample lunar cheddar; The Wrong Trousers, in which nefarious penguin Feathers McGraw employs a new Wallace patent in a daring heist; and A Close Shave, in which our heroes must step away from their window washing concern to foil a sheep rustling operation.
