Dune

Director: Denis Villeneuve

2021 / 155min / DCP

Timothée Chalamet leads a star-studded cast that includes Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling, and many more, in the role of Paul Atreides, a young man led by destiny and necessity to battle for possession of the inhospitable desert planet Arrakis and the invaluable “spice” that can be harvested only there, trained for his mission by a committee of advisors among whose ranks can be found Chen, in his first substantive English-speaking role as the Suk doctor Dr. Wellington Yuh. A sumptuous, vigorous imagining of the universe created by science fiction writer Frank Herbert, coursing along like a racing sandworm to the accompaniment of Hans Zimmer’s otherworldly, downright experimental score, which incorporates guitar distortion, bamboo flutes from India, and the scraping of steel.
