Crystal Voyager
Director: David Elfick
1973 / 78min / 4K DCP
Directed by Elfick, co-founder of the Australian surf magazine Tracks, “the Citizen Kane of surfing pictures” [The Guardian] follows photographer, filmmaker, and avid surfer George Greenough, as well as fellow wave-chasers Nat Young and Richie West, on a quest for secluded surf spots that goes from coastal California to Lennox Head, New South Wales, to points even further afield. A heady paean to the elements, to sun and water, whose fisheye tube-riding POV shots were received as nothing short of revolutionary when it premiered, and whose psychedelic soundtrack by The Crystal Voyager Band won it an ardent following in counterculture hot spots the world over.
