Night at the Cinema with Tyler Mitchell

Artist Tyler Mitchell curates a selection of favorite films that speak to the idea of Southern Gothic and ghosts which have influenced his practice, continuing a programmer-in-residence series co-presented with Gagosian.

“I am especially drawn to these films’ quiet power, their ability to evoke ghosts not as spectacle but as a lived, lingering atmosphere. Like the Southern landscapes I returned to for Ghost Images, these films inhabit spaces where beauty and transcendence continue to exist in the face of difficult histories both personal and collective. They’ve deeply inspired how I think about art making and storytelling.”
